Invite for EPC4 online session
Developing an understanding of the ‗Self‘ is essential for an individual to utilise her/his optimal potential for the benefit of one‘s own self as well for the society. As individuals in the society student teachers are integral part of it. As an integral member of the society an individual has various identities – gender, relational, linguistic, cultural etc. and it is essential to understand and address one‘s implicit beliefs, stereotypes and prejudices resulting from these identities. The student-teachers need to become aware of their own selves and their identities as well as the political, historical, and socio-cultural forces that shape them. The course thus provides an interdisciplinary view in the development of the understanding of one‘s own self. This exploration and understanding will enable the student-teachers to develop sensibilities, dispositions, and skills that will help in their personal and professional development and facilitate the personal growth of their students.
Objectives
The course will enable the student teachers to -
- gain an understanding of the central concepts in defining 'self' and 'identity‘
- reflect critically on factors that shape the understanding of 'self'
- build an understanding about themselves , i.e. the development of self as a person as well as a teacher
- reflect on one‘s experiences, aspirations and efforts towards becoming a humane
- individual and teacher
- develop effective communication skills including the ability to listen, observe etc.
- build resilience within themselves to deal with conflicts at different levels and learn
- to draw upon collective strengths to live in harmony with one‘s surroundings
- appreciate the critical role of teachers in promoting 'self' and students‘ well-being.
A realization that I am not perfect. And I am satisfied that I abide by values of life, I live a happy life and fully understand that I am ME. The thought of contented in life.
Happiness & True dreams: True happiness lies not in wealth and deceptive relationships. But rather it lies in the true companionship who support us in our dreams and motivate us.
Be Grateful: We should learn to be grateful in life for whatever we have and feel lucky that what we have is the best. We should concentrate on how blessed we are, to be in the position we are in today.
The power of inner beauty: True beauty is not in the skin colour, long hair, dimple chin, good physic, or any attributes that relates to external beauty. True beauty is the inner beauty - beautiful, loving and kind heart.
Eliminate expectations, Establish inner peace: If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed. When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are. Also we can achieve inner peace, true happiness, express kindness to everyone.

45. Teaching Practice
Date & Time : Dec2020 to Mar2021
In teacher training programme (B.Ed) period of teaching practice is considered as very demanding, hectic and exhaustive. Yet the essence of teacher training lies in it. Every year student teachers are sent for teaching practice to different schools. This period extends for 16 weeks.
For a week we observed the class of our Guide Teacher in School. Also simultaneously we noted down the learnings from the observation class. Classroom observations are a quantitative way of recording and measuring teacher behavior and mastery by systematically watching and recording them in action. I benefitted from the insights gained through observation as well as it shed light on techniques that I can use.
Next following weeks, intensive teaching practice started. We prepared lesson plans and started classes for high school with abounding support from our Guide teacher.
