Programmes and Events in my college - B.Ed I year
We, the student teachers at Vidhya Sagar Womem's College of Education, Chengalpattu, are getting trained to become future teachers. Teaching is just not only about "How to Teach", it also is how to engage with our society.
We learnt about how to plant a sap and how to prepare organic fertilizers.
Our college VSWCE conducts many programmes and events to develop us in all spheres, apart from our regular education. Each of these programmes and events are a milestone in our journey of becoming future teachers, which mould us to understand the community and develops our skills.
I am proud to share them, as these programmes and events has taught us many lessons practically. Teaching and Learning is not just within the four walls of classroom. It is widespread around in our daily life with people around us.
1. Eye Donation awareness camp

In this programme we learnt about

We learnt 8 asanas and their benefits.
- Vajrasana - Strengthens the thighs and calf muscles, improves digestion
- Vajmudhrasana - Relieves constipation and improves digestion process
- Paschimottasana - Relieves stress and helps balancing menstrual cycle
- Padmasana - Activates Kidney functions and cures gastric troubles
- Viparitha Karani - Helps in curing diseases like Hydrocele, Piles and Hernia
- Vajkriyasana - Helps in preventing Varicose veins
- Matsyasana - Relieves menstrual pains and helps to cure respiratory ailments
- Savasana - Improves blood circulation and helps in reducing headache

16. Visit to Innovative School - Magimai illam

We visited nearby home called Magimai illam and spent quality time with the children there. We all enjoyed along with them dancing and singing. Then we gave the collected contributions to them.
We could understand how to deal with children who needs special care and individual attention.
17. World Students day celebration - Exhibition

15th October 2019 ,APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birthday is celebrated as the World student’s day. We visited Vidhya Sagar Global School in Chengalpet where exhibition was conducted. Students exhibited their science work on various topics demonstrating their innovation and creativity.

20. National unity day

Sri Sardhar Vallabai Patel’s birthday is celebrated as National Unity Day.
Mrs. K. Vijaya, Assistant Professor of History gave speech on National Unity Day. A rally was also conducted on that day representing the Unity and our student teachers performed a Skit which emphasized our National Unity.
21. Infinity day and Nation Education Day

Various programmes were conducted on that day such as Speech, Power Point Presentation (PPT), Singing and Poster Making Competitions which were based on Values. Students lighted the lamps and conducted infini prayer.
Shri. Vikas Surana ji, Correspondent, planted the saplings and ensured that students planted each one sapling . This event focused on how trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting life.
22. Students adoption program II

Every Faculty member has a session with a student individually. The students freely express their experiences, thoughts, problems in those sessions. Then after the session the Mentor (Faculty Members) submits a feed back and report about the session they had with the students.

Principal of Vidhya Sagar Happy school, Mr. Ambiti Haris shared his life experiences. His speech was heart touching. It made us to realise that the technology advancement and busy schedules has dehumanised us. We don’t even spend time with our own family members. So, we should be a caring teacher and speak to our parents well.
Also we learnt the power of “Golden time” – take time for ourself and be good human to everyone around us.
